![]() Risk | Description The aim of this project was to provide mine staff with an easy-to-use software tool for MS Windows environment for the fast and effective probabilistic seismic hazard analysis. In the simplest case, the application uses the classical seismic hazard analysis scheme, based on the Gutenberg's b-parameter magnitude-frequency relation. This analysis was extended according to the specific situation that is typical for mining-induced seismicity, namely its clustered character (in time and space) and the complexity of magnitude-frequency relationship. We used a non-parametric approach for estimation of the probability density function of magnitude distribution as proposed by Lasocki et al. [1] that proved to be more adequate in the situation of complex frequency-magnitude distributions. This resulted in a more reliable assessment of seismic hazard for the studied area. The software is currently used for the routine seismic hazard assessment at Rudna copper mine in Poland. Unfortunately, the projest is not under development and there is no english version available.
